Is it advisable to buy an integrated plan that covers private hospital?
24 Oct 2022 (325 views)

Singaporeans are caught in a dilemma.

They are advised to stay with Medishield Life, as the premium is affordable. However, Medishield Life only covers hospital treatment in subsidized wards.

Here is an advise from the CPF
The key points are:

a) The hospital bill increases substantially if the patient is treated in a private ward or a private hospital.

b) The additional private insurance coverage component could be up to 4 times the MediShield Life premiums when one is in your 70s or 80s and are no longer working.

Lately, Singaporeans read that there is a shortage of bed in public hospitals and it could take a few days before a bed becomes available.

Should they move to an integrated plan, to be sure that they can have access to treatment when they need?

If they are prepared to pay the higher premium, which insurance company offers a good plan and, more importantly, at affordable premiums?

I will write about this subject in another article.
