Coping with the US market crash on 24 Feb 2021
24 Feb 2021 (327 views)

The US market suffered a big crash when it opened on 24 Feb 2021. Some of the hot stocks that I invested previously (but have since sold off) dropped by more than 30%. They included NNDM, BNGO, SENS and TSLA.

I checked my cash position in my portfolio and found that I had $150,000 USD. The funds came from several stocks that I sold recently.

I decided to invest in the four stocks that dropped more than 20% (and in some cases, more than 30%). They are shown in the table below. My total investment was $150,000

I set a price target to sell these stocks at 20% higher (10% for Tesla) than the prices that I bought them. Two of the targets were reached. The other two showed a gain of more than 10% (based on after market prices).

My profit (half realized) on these four stocks was $20,000.

For the day, my holdings in the Hong Kong market (of China stocks) went up well. However, my holdings in US market (apart from the above four stocks) showed furthere losses. Overall, I had a bad day.

However, my experence with these four stocks was positive. It is good to realize $20,000 profit to cover the losses.
