Performance of OCBC Bank
13 May 2021 (474 views)

A shareholder of OCBC was surprised to see the price drop after the release of the financial results for 2020. He asked if OCBC performed worse than the peers.

I present the financial figures of the 3 Singapore banks below.

OCBC stock price dropped by 5% compared to its 30 day high. DBS and UOB dropped by 2%.

OCBC had a sharper drop because the price increased more during the runup to the release of the results. After the results, the price dropped to the level about 10 days earlier.

All the 3 banks showed a drop in net earnings for 2020 compared to 2019. The drop was 24% for DBS and OCBC and 34% for UOB.

The price earning ratio for the 3 banks was between 12.4 and 15.5 times and the dividend yield was between 2.44% and 2.99%.

All the 3 banks are fairly valued. OCBC looks slightly better than the other banks because of its lower PE ratio.
