Nvidia will be split 4 for 1
22 May 2021 (513 views)

Nvidia Corporation focuses on personal computer (PC) graphics, graphics processing unit (GPU) and also on artificial intelligence (AI). It announced good results for the financial year ended 31 Jan 2021 and a 4 for 1 stock split. The stock price closed at US $559.

A friend asked me if I would buy this stock for the split.

The financial results are shown below.

The net income jumped to $4.3 billion in 2021 from $2.8 billion for 2020. But it was only slightly higher than the $4.1 billion recorded in 2019.

At the current price, this stock has a price earning ration of 84.73 times and a dividend yield of 0.11%.

Based on the information that is now available to me, I would not buy this stock. Although the stock split will reduce the stock price to $140, it will not change the fundamentals.

The key question is - will this stock continue to show strong growth and profits in the future?
